Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh (WC&S) is a comprehensive domestic violence program annually serving over 7,500 adult and child survivors of domestic violence & facilitating an intervention program to nearly 300 people who use abuse. We are advocates, grounded in fostering a community of safety, healing, and empowerment for anyone affected by domestic violence. About the role
CYF (Children, Youth, & Families) IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) Specialists drive positive change for individuals, families, systems, and communities with the support of a dynamic, solution-focused team. As a CYF IPV Specialist, you will provide consultation, coaching, and training to Office of Children, Youth, & Families Services (OCYFS) caseworkers. This role will also provide outreach and services to families experiencing IPV, while serving the adult and child survivors along with working with the parties utilizing offending behaviors. This position is co-located between the WC&S office and the assigned OCYFS locations, with occasional opportunities for remote work.
This role provides you with the opportunity to showcase your crisis management, systems advocacy, cultural competency, and training skills, and the ability to contribute to the organization’s mission in a variety of ways. Here’s what you will do
- Provide consultations/coaching services to OCYFS caseworkers and staff regarding families experiencing IPV, while establishing and maintaining effective relationships with OCYFS caseworkers
- Provide training to new and veteran OCYFS caseworkers on the intersection of IPV and child welfare
- Participate in conferencing and team meetings, home visits, record reviews, Act 33 reviews, and staffing with OCYFS on behalf of families experiencing IPV
- Provide culturally competent crisis intervention and supportive services to IPV victims/survivors and their families, as well as persons using violence
- Provide ongoing systems advocacy to victims/survivors experiencing IPV/family violence within the Allegheny County Child Welfare System
- Utilize knowledge of provider agencies in Allegheny County to effectively coordinate WC&S services with other agencies to benefit families involved with OCYFS
- Provides consultation to WC&S staff regarding OCYFS-related challenges for victims/survivors, and persons using violence receiving WC&S services
- This position requires being available Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm; additionally, it requires being available for regular on-call hours (including overnights, weekends, and holidays) approximately one week per month
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Here’s what we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, social sciences, or related field; Master’s degree preferred (commensurate experience will be considered)
- 1-3 years of experience working in direct service in a human service agency, preferably working with IPV victims, perpetrators, or children
- Ability to work effectively with the family unit, including those utilizing offending behaviors
- Experience and proficiency with training professionals
- Ability to effectively navigate Allegheny County in a timely fashion (a vehicle is not required, though preferential, during the position’s duties)
- Bilingualism/multilingualism helpful
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- A demonstration of the understanding of abusive family dynamics, including intimate partner violence, cycle of abuse, power and control dynamic, cultural diversity issues, and child abuse and neglect
- Ability to establish healthy boundaries, trust, respect, and rapport with others
- Ability to understand and adhere to strict confidentiality and safety procedures
- Strong command of general technology, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite is required; familiarity and understanding of information technology, including Salesforce, Tableau, and Teams strongly preferred

- Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances required
Typical Starting Salary: $36,000/year
