ToolkitsMedical Advocacy Program Toolkit

Since 1996, PCADV has provided funding for domestic violence programs who wish to engage in focused domestic violence education and advocacy within the healthcare system. The Medical Advocacy Project (MAP) has grown from 3 pilot sites at its inception to 33 funded projects as of 2020.

This toolkit will help both new and seasoned advocates gain a better understanding of what the role of a Medical Advocate is and what the “day-to-day” routine might look like. Every program is different, so what follows is merely a guideline, but should offer some insight on how to structure your work plan, interact within various systems, and engage with victims and survivors in a hospital setting.
