The Medical Advocate position is primarily responsible for the coordination of the agency’s hospital-based Medical Advocacy Project, working on behalf of victims of domestic and sexual violence in collaboration with interdisciplinary staff at health care facilities in York County. The Medical Advocate provides trauma-informed support and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual violence who seek treatment within any York County health care system. The Medical Advocate provides training on the intersection of sexual and domestic violence and health care to health care providers, as well as technical assistance and recommendations on best practice policies and procedures. Serves on a range of community committees and task forces representing the health care needs of domestic and sexual violence victims.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or at least three years of work experience in the field of health care or human services. Strong preference will be given to those with demonstrated experience working with the health care field within York County.

Must complete the mandatory PCADV/PCAR domestic violence/sexual assault counselor/advocate training within 90 days of hire; preference will be given to those applicants who have already completed the training, and/or have demonstrated experience working with victims of domestic violence.
