WIN is seeking a Shelter Services Coordinator to work with victims of domestic violence to arrange emergency shelter and coordinate support services. The Shelter Services Coordinator will assist with answering hotline calls, providing advocacy and support, completing intakes and assessments, and developing safety and goal plans.

General Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human service related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in crisis intervention, supportive problem solving, advocacy and counseling.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to establish a professional relationship with clients and community representatives.
- Obtain and maintain clean child abuse clearances, criminal record background check and FBI clearance.
- Access to private transportation.
- Ability to schedule working hours to coincide with WIN work priorities.
Responsibilities: Direct Service
- Respond to agency hotline callers and provide emotional support, information and referral to meet the needs of the caller. Provide advocacy and accompaniment to hospital, police and other social service agencies as needed to resolve the immediate crisis.
- Arrange for shelter for victims seeking this service, provide/arrange transportation to shelter and coordinate support services for residents while in shelter.
- Work with the Resident Advocate to plan and facilitate life skills workshops and other programs and activities that assist residents in furthering their goals and achieving their service plans. Conduct resident meetings on a regular basis.
- On initial contact with clients, complete an intake and assessment in order to assist the client in the development of a plan for service that will include services with WIN as well as appropriate referrals.
- Provide advocacy, transportation and accompaniment for clients interacting with housing, welfare, employment agencies and any other social service agencies as prescribed by service plans.
- Assess resident needs for WIN’s services such as counseling, legal or transitional housing etc. and make appropriate referrals within the agency.
- Provide advocacy for clients when interacting with family members, school officials, day care officials, employers, etc.
- Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule volunteers for shelter coverage and to assist with groups and other activities for the residents.
- Assist the Direct Services Manager in the development of an annual work plan for the provision of shelter services to victims of domestic violence.
- Record and maintain accurate case records. Complete all required case documentation daily. Assist with collection of data for all required agency and funding reports.
- Keep shelter building and grounds neat, clean and in repair. Report any needed repairs or improvements to maintenance. Maintain inventory of shelter furnishings and equipment. Maintain facility security and safety. Conduct safety checks.
- Responsible for maintaining efficient operation of shelter facility by assigning cleaning duties, menu planning, ordering and maintaining adequate supplies, managing shelter donations, and coordinating with community groups on shelter projects etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete WIN counselor/advocate training.
- Participate in relevant training, conferences and seminars with the approval and/or direction of your supervisor.
- Cooperate as a team member with other staff and volunteers to promote the best interest of WIN and its service to the community.
- Uphold all WIN policies, procedures and confidentiality.
- Assume additional responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.

Hours: 40 hours maximum or as scheduled by supervisor. On-call rotation required.
