Position Title: Residential Services Advocate 

Employment Type/Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 

Shift Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Supervisor: Director of Residential Services Department: Residential Services

FLSA Status: Non-exempt 

FLSA Exemption Test: N/A

Starting Salary/Hourly Rate: $17.00/hour 

Bilingual/bicultural Spanish-English speaking candidates strongly preferred

  2. Employee always maintains confidentiality according to agency requirements, consistently follows agency policies and procedures, and makes good decisions within the boundaries of their position expectations.

  4. The employee responds to changing circumstances by being innovative and adjusting behavior to fit different situations. Employee performs work with a calm demeanor in stressful situations. Even in situations that may cause employees personal discomfort, they are able to be flexible and understand and balance others’ diverse views and beliefs.
  5. Essential Skills Standard
  6. The employee has strong communication skills, which are essential to the work of an advocate. They express themselves clearly and effectively when speaking and writing. Employee practices active listening by facilitating two-way communication and ensuring that information is understood by all parties. They share information in a timely manner using the most appropriate method and follow up with individuals requesting additional information, referrals, or assistance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide trauma-informed support to residents and their children and assist in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and supportive community living environment.   
  2. Assist with the orientation process and respond to the immediate needs of new residents while maintaining professionalism, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times.  
  3. Conduct safety/security rounds in the building during assigned shifts; complete necessary verbal and written reports. Complete logs as required; follow up on safety-related issues and concerns and contact medical, police, and fire personnel in the event of an emergency. 
  4. Assist case managers with the discharge of residents. 
  5. Conduct inspections of resident rooms as required according to established protocols. 
  6. Distribute necessary items to clients, such as clothing, toiletries, linens, cleaning supplies, and maintains the related inventory.  
  7. Assist with meal preparation and distribution when necessary and perform general housekeeping duties. 
  8. Receive, sort, and distribute resident mail.
  9. Assist the department director in the orientation and training of new staff/volunteers.
  10. Attends staff, team, program, and agency meetings as required.
  11. All other duties as determined by the department supervisor.
