After Aubria´s murder, I knew that something had to be done – I just didn´t know what or how until I began to speak out on behalf of Aubria and to be the voice for all of those who can no longer speak for themselves. My dream is to help put an end to domestic violence. Pauletta Vaughn lost her daughter, Aubria Cleckley, in 2000 to domestic violence when she was murdered by her boyfriend. Despite her personal grief, Pauletta began to raise awareness and speak out about domestic violence. She organized the annual Aubria Memorial March Against Domestic Violence and invited those in the community who had lost a loved one to violence to participate. She started “Butterfly Wings,” a project that uses Aubria´s story to encourage public involvement in ending violence against women and children. Pauletta has spoken at local events and appeared on the Maury Povich Show. She also worked with PCADV on a number of outreach initiatives and this year joined the staff of PCADV´s National Resource Center Against Domestic Violence. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
