Coming into the battered women´s movement 27 years ago changed my life fundamentally. It blasted me out of my safe little orbit and galvanized me to work harder for political, social and economic justice for women. I hope the measure of my life will be that I have made life better for those who follow. Morgan Plant has been a staunch advocate for women´s safety and autonomy for close to three decades. As a staff member and then a contract lobbyist for the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Morgan has been a presence and voice for battered women in the halls of Pennsylvania´s Capitol and administrative offices. She has lobbied successfully for civil legal options for battered women, the eradication of insurance discrimination against domestic violence victims, stronger criminal sanctions for perpetrators, funding for domestic violence programs, and protections for children of battered women. Morgan´s persistence, keen political acumen, and immeasurable vocabulary have helped to make Pennsylvania laws more responsive to the needs of battered women and their children. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
