I´ve dedicated a significant part of my adult life to equal rights and protection of women. For too long and with too many excuses, women have been denied equal status at home, at work, in government and in religion. There´s no place for domestic violence – no excuse for abuse. Mimi Ungar Barash Coppersmith Fredman has been an advocate for women and a voice to end domestic violence for over 30 years. A strong supporter of the Centre County Women´s Resource Center (CCWRC), Mimi served as the Honorary Chair of the successful 1999-2000 Capital Campaign. As publisher of Town & Gown Magazine, Mimi regularly features the work of the CCWRC. As a member of Penn State´ s Board of Trustees, and the first woman ever elected Chair, Mimi worked to improve the response to violence against women and prioritized equitable treatment of women faculty, staff and students. She was named one of Pennsylvania´s Best 50 Women in Business and was the first recipient of the Athena Award in Centre County. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
