Jeanne Vallimont, Jeanne Vallimont

Jeanne Vallimont

Honored by: Safe Horizons Erie County

Safe Horizons has done much over the years to address the injustices of domestic violence. I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the effort. It is a part of my life of which I am most proud. I wish it had been there for my mother.

For more than twenty-five years, Jeanne Vallimont has served on the Safe Horizons Board of Directors and has played a pivotal role in the establishment of services and shelter for abused women and children in Erie County.

Before a shelter was secured in 1978, Jeanne and her husband, Patrick, provided a safe haven for survivors by housing them in their own home. With Jeanne´s and Patrick´s support, Safe Horizons has been able to expand their services and shelter capacity from less than 50 and children per year to over 500 each year. This year, Safe Horizons recognized the couple for their commitment and dedication by naming the shelter The Vallimont Domestic Violence Center.
