In my seven years as a prosecutor, I witnessed first hand the devastating impacts of violence against women and children. As a legislator, I have been able to craft policies to address safety, medical and law enforcement needs critical in the response to violence, and for that I am most proud. Since her election to the Pennsylvania Senate nine years ago, State Senator Jane Earll (R-Erie) has shown herself to be not only dedicated and conscientious but a legislator who makes it her business to thoroughly understand the issues. She has been a true advocate to our collective mission of ending domestic violence. Most recently, she sponsored bills to expand the scope of the PFA law, waive fees for background checks for domestic violence volunteers, and allow women convicted of drug crimes to receive TANF benefits. When domestic violence program confidentiality was threatened, she took the lead in sponsoring a Senate resolution. In spite of her very taxing schedule, Senator Earll is always accessible and has been extremely supportive of local agencies that serve women and children, including SafeNet. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
