I have always been a strong advocate for women´s equality and for the end to violence against women. PCADV has given the women of Pennsylvania hope for stopping the violence against them and the support and means to make that hope a reality. The Women´s Center has proudly been a part of that effort from the very beginning. Florence Thompson – advocate, activist, friend and supporter – has been dedicated to ending violence against women for more than three decades. One of the founders of domestic violence services in Columbia and Montour counties, Ms. Thompson´s contributions did not stop there. She served The Women´s Center, Inc., of Columbia/Montour as a valued member of the staff, as an important member of the Board of Directors, as an indispensable member of the Columbia County VOCA Board and as a consistent supporter. Ms. Thompson speaks out loudly, clearly, effectively and often whenever and wherever she witnesses attitudes or actions that impede a woman´s right to equality, a victim´s right to justice or a child´s right to safety. Ms. Thompson´s voice has been raised and the community has listened and been made better for it. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
