As we are bombarded with increasing horrors visited upon women, which expands the scope of the violence, I have consciously chosen a feminist path in a small, conservative city. My humble contribution carves out unique and sustainable collaborations between community and students to developing strategies that make this work manageable, meaningful, reproducible and attainable. Dr. Elizabeth Randol, an advocate, an activist and an educator at the University of Scranton, has women´s empowerment as her mission. She has authored a successful federal grant award on Violence Against Women. Dr. Randol has been a visionary leader in initiating and executing various domestic and sexual violence projects. She has trained the students to conduct innovative projects, such as training hairdressers to identify signs of abuse and training campus freshmen as part of the Promoting Awareness of the College Transition (PACT) program. As the Director of Jane Kopas Women´s Center at the University, Dr. Randol has been a mobilizing force to engage men, clergy and faith ministers against sexual and partner violence on a Jesuit College Campus. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
