I left private practice to join Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County and it is the most rewarding thing I´ve ever done. I have witnessed women experience amazing transformations as they became more independent and empowered. I feel lucky to have learned from the passionate and dedicated people who work in this field. Daneen Miller Smith has been active in the Battered Women´s Movement for over ten years. Her passion is obvious at every level of her work. She was a junior attorney in a prestigious law firm in Lancaster when she began volunteering on the Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County hotline. Eventually, she joined the program staff to offer victims the best legal representation possible from a holistic approach. She has earned an excellent reputation and respect from judges, her peers, other professionals and, most importantly, battered women. Under her leadership, the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic has developed into a comprehensive legal advocacy project that serves as a model throughout the state. Because of Daneen, safety and justice are now a very real option for victims in Lancaster county. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
