Domestic violence is an insidious crime that breeds in isolation. By banding together, we all can play a role in raising awareness, strengthening laws to protect victims, and letting victims know that help exists. I pledge to continue advocating for new laws to prevent domestic violence and help victims. State Senator Connie Williams (D-Delaware/Montgomery) hasbeen a longstanding advocate and champion for increased access, safety and funding for victims of domestic violence and remains – along with her staff – one of the most committed and engaged members of the Pennsylvania Legislature. Her dedication and personal generosity have materially enhanced the quality of domestic violence programs and the level of services for victims. Senator Williams has been an ardent advocate for increased public awareness and education by organizing community events and educational forums each year. She has supported and sponsored legislation including the recent passage of amendments to the Protection From Abuse Act. Additionally, Senator Williams is sponsoring a proposed bill to increase marriage license and divorce fees to raise an additional $3 million per year for domestic violence services. | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
