I feel honored to have helped so many women and children find their sense of dignity and the realization that someone believes them and cares about their thoughts and feelings. The strength it takes me to continue to fight for victims´ rights is nothing compared to the strength it takes a victim to survive. The Alice Paul House is pleased to recognize Beth Illig for the service she has provided to battered women and their children for more than 20 years. The following poem, written to Beth by nine of her clients, exemplifies her commitment and dedication: You came into our lives…Unannounced…Uninvited… But not unwanted. You came at a time that we needed… A tender smile… A gentle touch… A woman´s company. You came with understanding…For you asked no questions. With loving care… You healed our wounds… And nursed us to health again. Then you watched over us… Till we regained our courage… To face the world again. And in your wisdom you realized our need to be free… So you tied no bonds. Now each night… Wherever we are we think of you, wherever you are. And in our hearts we repeat: “Thank you.” | A Tribute to 30 Remarkable WomenIn Celebration of 30 Remarkable Years Working to End Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence Pays Tribute to 30 Remarkable Women Making Domestic Violence History.
